I attended the Climate Strike against Line 5 hosted by student organization Keweenaw Youth for Climate Action (KYCA). I filmed with my gimbal and mic on the Canon 60D and a few of the organizers were kind enough to briefly interview with me.
Although the video is a bit rough around the edges, the real miracle is the fact that I turned it around in under 24 hours. The strike started at 4pm on Saturday and I had the video uploaded by noon on Sunday.
Joshua Vissers was kind enough to publish my story through the Copper Beacon socials.
If you are interested in learning more about Line 5, I recommend visiting Clean Water Action who provides good context on the history of Enbridge and Line 5.
Keweenaw Youth for Climate Action (KYCA) organized a demonstration against the Enbridge Line 5 oil pipeline which stretches nearly the full length of both of Michigan's peninsulas citing the age of the pipeline as well as Enbridge's history of oil spills. KYCA also was petitioning an expansion of the energy cap on community solar which limits how much energy can be sold back to the grid as a better way to secure the U.P.'s energy future.
You can help support KYCA by:
1. Writing a public comment to the Michigan Public Service Commission (MSPC) asking them to reject the Line 5 Tunnel: https://www.oilandwaterdontmix.org/mp...
2. Leave a message for Michigan House Representative Bellino urging him to bring House Bill 4236 up for a vote in order to end Michigan's needless solar cap: (517) 373-1530
