I got a chance to collaborate with a research team at Michigan Tech that was working on methods to mitigate flooding risks in rural communities who are notoriously underserved and vulnerable to climate change and intensified weather. The team itself was multi-disciplinary with multiple Universities as well as several local civic partners all trying to address this challenge.
I went through the team's submission documents, conducted video interviews, and shot B-roll footage all across the Keweenaw in order to produce this five minute video, a required component of their grant application. As luck would have it, they were one of the teams selected to receive $1 million in grant funding from the Civic Innovation Challenge and have now moved on to the next stage of their research.
